Ground and excited states of coupled exciton liquids in electron-hole quadrilayers

چکیده
Interlayer excitons are bound states of electrons and holes confined in separate two-dimensional layers. Due to their repulsive dipolar interaction, interlayer can form a correlated liquid. If another electron-hole bilayer is present, from different bilayers exhibit mutual attraction. We study such quadrilayer system by hypernetted chain formalism. compute ground-state energies, pair correlation functions, collective mode velocities as functions the exciton densities. estimate critical density for transition paired biexciton phase. For strongly unbalanced (unequal density) system, more dilute behave polarons. energies effective masses exciton-polarons.

Excited Terminal States of Bound Exciton Complexes
Emission from the excited terminal states of bound exciton-donor complexes has been observed in several I I — V I compounds. Studying these optical transitions allows one to determine the donor ionization energies, the electron effective masses as well as the electron (/-values in these materials. A good theoretical fit to the experimental data was obtained, using the effective mass approximati...
متن کاملExciton formation and dissociation in mass-asymmetric electron-hole plasmas
First-principle path integral Monte Carlo simulations were performed in order to analyze correlation effects in complex electron-hole plasmas, particularly with regard to the appearance of excitonic bound states. Results are discussed in relation to exciton formation in unconventional semiconductors with large electron hole mass asymmetry.
متن کاملExact Ground States and Excited States of Net Spin Models
We study a set of exactly soluble net spin models. There exist two kinds of ground state, one is a complete dimerized state, and the other one is the ground state of corresponding spin-1 model. For the excitation gap, various phases were discovered and determined. متن کاملExciton and electron-hole plasma formation dynamics in ZnO
We employ optical pump-THz probe measurements to study the formation of excitons and electron-hole plasmas following photogeneration of a hot electron-hole gas in the direct gap semiconductor zinc oxide. Below the Mott density, we directly observe the evolution of the hot electron-hole plasma into an insulating exciton gas in the 10 to 100 ps following photoexcitation. The temperature dependenc...
متن کاملPhoto-Excited Electron and Hole Dynamics in Semiconductor Quantum Dots: Phonon-Induced Relaxation, Multiple Exciton Generation and Recombination
Photoexcited dynamics of electrons and holes in semiconductor quantum dots (QD), including phonon-induced relaxation, multiple exciton generation and recombination (MEG and MER), were simulated by combining ab initio time-dependent density functional theory and non-adiabatic (NA) molecular dynamics. Our Auger dynamics simulation simultaneously calculates the MEG and AR, and can discuss interpla...
